Cycling
Tired of viewing countries through a car, bus or train window? Then take in all that beautiful scenery from handlebar height! Cycling holidays allow experienced cyclists to seek out challenges, recreational cyclists to explore and occasional cyclists to relax. Options range from remote off-road trails to tarmac, huge descents to easy river valleys and from ‘point-to-point’ to centre-based trips.
Riding distances range from 35 to 120km per day, depending on terrain and altitude. Escorted trips are led by at least one experienced leader, riding with you to address any mechanical problems or first aid needs. They’ll offer insight into areas and tips on riding technique. Support vehicles carry tools and spares, refreshments, luggage and will offer a lift if you want a more relaxing day! Bike hire is usually offered if you prefer not to bring your own.
If you’re a cyclist then you’ll definitely want to add cycling in France whilst watching ‘Le Tour’ to your travel wish list. Our cycling holidays let you take in some of the best action at the world’s top cycling events whilst also exploring the local scenery and sights on your bike including the Tour de France, UCI Road Cycling World Championships in Melbourne later on this year, Giro d’Italia and Nove Colli and the Tour Downunder.
There are self-guided cycling holidays in many parts of Europe; simply follow the route notes provided and detour if you wish! Luggage is transported for you, so there is freedom to go at your own pace.
Finally, prepare for a cycling holiday by going riding! Even leisurely cycling involves a degree of exertion, so build up a degree of fitness before you go!
Some of our favourite destinations and rides are; Morocco – the Atlas Descent, Vietnam – Saigon to Hanoi, the UK – Coast to Coast, Spain – Moorish Trails of Andalucia, France – the Dordogne, Africa – Kilimanjaro to Zanzibar and Vienna to Prague.
Hard core riders might enjoy some of these fascinating trips; cycling the Great Wall of China, Cycling Cuba, across Peru on the Trails of the Incas ride or Nepal & Tibet with the stunning Lhasa to Kathmandu ride.
