What an incredible destination! My trip both started and ended in Buenos Aires and I cannot think of a more vibrant city to launch into my South American Adventure! The people are so passionate about life and their culture and you cannot help being captivated by it, whether it’s while enjoying great food & wine or being mesmorised by the sultry footsteps of the Tango!
From the lively Capital in the West I headed to the southernmost town of Ushuaia to embark on an Antarctic Expedition cruise that was to mark the last of my continental landings and change the “wow factor” in my travels forever! Finding yourself staring up at an 8 storey high iceberg whilst sitting in a very small zodiac is an awe-inspiring moment. The beauty of the ice calved landscape is indescribable and the abundance of wildlife that you encounter; penguins, whales, seals and birdlife is simply magnificent. Every moment exceeded my expectations.
The adventure and excitement continued onto Patagonia. Discovering the almighty 250 km2 Perito Moreno Glacier in Argentina to Torres Del Paine National Park, one of Chile’s most spectacular natural areas. The park is dominated by massive granite towers and it's a trampers’ paradise to be up close to these imperious natural structures and experience the power and raw majesty of this region.
South America and Antarctica are incredible destinations and I've only discovered just the “tip of the iceberg”, which is why before I even left the continent I knew that I would be back!
